Nigeria has no representative left on the continent’s ongoing tournament, after Warri Wolves were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
The NPFL side were hoping to overturn a 3-0 defeat from the first leg away to AC Leopards of Congo-Brazzaville, but could not scale through despite winning 3-1.
Wolves failed to score in the opening 45 minutes, before Super Eagles striker Gbolahan Salami grabbed the first goal three minutes after the break. The visitors equalized four minutes later, to increase the tension inside the Warri City Stadium.
Salami struck again in the 72nd minute, before U-23 striker Etebo Oghenekaro got Wolves’ third with three minutes left.
The result means Leopards have made it into the group phase of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup competition.
