Waku: Benue has lost a father – Ortom

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has described the death of Senator Joseph Kennedy Nyikwagh Waku as a monumental loss to the state and the country at large.

Ortom, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said that Senator Waku was his mentor and uncle who was a defender of the common man and people of Benue.

He described Waku as a man who was known for forthrightness, courage, and love for fellow human beings.

According to him, Senator Waku was one of my ardent supporters who encouraged him to face the task of governance at very difficult moments and made numerous sacrificial contributions to Nigeria and Benue State in particular.

He added that Senator Waku was a man who promoted unity, equity, peace, and justice for all Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity, religion and political leaning.

Commiserating with the family of the senator, he prayed that God grants the family the strength to bear the loss.

Senator JKN Waku represented Benue North West Senatorial District between 1999 and 2003. He passed away at the National Hospital, Abuja yesterday at the age of 73.
