Alhaji Mohammed Wakil the Minister of State for Power on Friday condemned Thursday’s multiple blast in Biu, Borno State, describing it as a sing of weakness by the Boko Haram insurgents. Wakil stated this in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media Mr Olawale Rasheed in Maiduguri. “I received with sadness the news of bomb blast that again in Biu on Thursday. “ This is one bombing too many and a continuation of condemnable man’s inhumanity to man by the almost defeated Boko Haram sect,’’ he said. Wakil added:“The attack on Biu about four in recent times is a manifestation of desperation by terrorists who are on the run following their defeat in Baga and other communities.
“It is a new shift to soft targets as the end come for the insurgents who had foisted evil bloodsucking reign on our people for so long’’. He commended security agencies in their efforts to root out the insurgents from Nigeira. “I commend the security forces for ongoing successes. “I wish to appeal for strengthening of our soft weapons in the area of intelligence gathering and monitoring of sleeping cells of these terrorists’’.
Wakil said that security agencies will begin to counter the insurgents in their new tactics of attacking soft spots. “It is time to strengthen the working relationship between local vigilantes and the security agencies to prevent and forestall future attacks. “Our military that is winning the conventional war will also soon win the sect in their new attacks on soft targets,’’ he said. “I condole the Emir and good people of Biu. “I empathize with the victims and their families. May Almighty Allah grant us victory over these enemies of our people’’.
