The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC), on Tuesday said it will soon review the salaries of its workers as part of measures to motivate them towards optimal productivity.
Mr Olutise Adenipekun, Head of its office in Nigeria, said this on Tuesday in Lokoja, at a ceremony to mark the outfit’s 67th anniversary, NAN reports.
He said that management had set up a committee to review staff salary.
“The report of the committee is being considered; we want better packages for our staff in spite of the council’s dwindling resources.
“The council’s achievements over the years would have been impossible without the cooperation and dedication of staff and other stakeholders.
“Management believes that it is important to sustain an effective and efficient workforce through regular staff training and re-training.
“This will be vigorously pursued during this fiscal year,” Adenipekun said.
He urged WAEC staff to be prudent in resources management, stressing that there was need to adopt strict fiscal discipline to avoid wastage.
“We should embrace transparency and accountability in all our dealings. We must remember that the council has zero tolerance for corruption,” he added
