Reno Omokri, the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the Friday’s debate between vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, his Peoples Democratic Party’s counterpart, Peter Obi and others.
Five candidates contesting for the vice presidency, on Friday engaged in a debate.
Those who participated were, Yemi Osinbajo (APC) Peter Obi (PDP) Umma Getso (YPP) Alhaji Abdulganiyu Galadima (ACPN) Khadijah Abdullahi-Iya (ANN)
Obi, while speaking on economy issues in Nigeria criticised Buhari administration for focus on mainly fighting corruption at the expense of state of the nation.
Osinbajo in response blamed PDP rule of 16 years for the rot in the country, adding that corruption has to be eradicated before Nigeria can grow.
“ If you allow criminals to steal all the inventory in the shop, there will be no shop. That’s the problem. And what has happened in Nigeria in the past 16 years is what the World Bank told us; that the major cause of our poverty is corruption,” VP said.
Reacting, Omokri said Osinbajo during the VP debate showed Nigerians that he was still stuck in 2015 while Obi showed he was ready for the Nigeria of tomorrow.
The former presidential spokesman on his Twitter page wrote: “Osinbajo should have told the public what they have done and what they intend to do.
“By basing his strategy on the false narrative of 16 years of PDP rot, Osinbajo has shown that he is stuck in 2015 while Peter Obi is not just up to today, he is up to tomorrow.”
