Residents of Kwadaru village of Kubau local government area of Kaduna State, on Monday confronted kidnappers, killing one of them.
The group of kidnappers, who have been tormenting the people in the area, met the resistance of the villagers when their attempt to kidnap a resident was foiled.
A villager told journalists in Kaduna that the angry locals also set ablaze the captured kidnapper before security agencies got to the scene.
The villager, Mohammed Tanko said, “The kidnappers came to the village armed with dangerous weapons on Monday night and started shooting sporadically in an attempt to kidnap some women in a particular house.
“The people mobilized themselves against the kidnappers and in the process, they captured one of them and killed him. They also set his body ablaze in a mob action, while the rest escaped.
“The security agencies came to the village and started trailing the hoodlums to the forest.”
It will be recalled that the Special squad against Kidnapping in the state, comprising the military and the police had last week freed four young girls abducted by kidnappers in Kateri, Kachia local government of the state.
