The Police on Thursday confirmed the killing of three suspected armed robbers by a mob at Tudun-Saibu village in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Alhaji Mohammed Shehu, Police Area Commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Zaria on Friday, that two other members of the robbery gang were, however, arrested by the police.

NAN reports that the armed robbers were accused of shooting to death, one Murtala Chiroma, a Mathematics teacher with Government Secondary School, Zaria.

“A five-man gang of suspected armed robbers have attacked and killed one Murtala Chiroma in his resident at Tudun-Saibu early Thursday morning.

“A large crowd of people descended on the suspected criminals and killed three of them while the two other members run away but glory be to God, the police have arrested the two suspects.

“The case has been forwarded to state CID for further investigation,’’ he said.

An eye witness, residing in the village, who pleaded for anonymity, said the suspects got information that the deceased withdrew huge sum of money from a bank.

The source said the suspects attacked the deceased in his home and insisted that he must give them the money, which he denied withdrawing.

“From there, the criminals stabbed and later shot him in the abdomen before people came to his aid and rushed him to the hospital but he died before reaching the hospital.

“Two members of the gang were instantly arrested by a large crowd of people who killed them and set them ablaze while the remaining one was arrested the following morning and they set him ablaze too,’’ the witness said.

According to the source, the deceased left behind four wives and 18 children. NAN
