Veteran journalists urge FG to immortalize late Odunewu


The Plateau State Chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists has urged the Federal Government to immortalize late Alade Odunewu for his contributions to the enthronement of democracy in Country.

This was disclosed in a press statement made available to Dailypost in Jos on Monday, and signed by its Chairman, Dr. Gideon Barde and the body’s Secretary, Oladapo.

According to the statement, the death of Odunewu is a monumental loss and must not be forgotten in a haste, urging the Federal Government to assist towards immortalizing him.

The statement added that, although Odunewu died at the age of 85, he lived a fulfilled life, recalling the old days when life was epic battle and Journalism was in bondage faced with decrees from the military.

Stressing that, the deceased was amongst the few fearless Journalists who fought for democratic governance and stood against incompetence in Journalism, the statement further pleaded with the government to take its plea seriously.

The Veterans commiserate with the family, Lagos State and its South-West counterparts on the demise of its senior Colleague and friend.
