Vehicle owners laud proposed loan scheme for purchase of locally-made cars


The Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria, VOAN, has commended the Director-General, D-G, of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Engr. Aminu Jalal for the proposed N7.5billion local car purchase loan scheme that will afford Nigerians an opportunity to procure brand new vehicles.

National executives of the association led by its National President, Hon. Odo Vincent Okoko, in a courtesy visit to the council on Tuesday, commended the D-G, Engr Aminu Jalal and his team for the giant strides and achievements attained in the promotion of locally manufactured vehicles and components in Nigeria and the purchase of over 14 vehicle assembly plants.

According to Okoko, “Today we are here to briefly introduce our association to you and also to commend your agency for its giant strides that have brought in over 14 vehicle assembly plants into Nigeria among other achievements.

“We are also using this opportunity to thank your agency for the proposed N7.5billion local car purchase loan scheme for which own members nation-wide stand to benefit. We are anxiously waiting for the implementation of this game changing scheme which shall bring Nigerians at par with South African counterpart in terms of wide spread usage of brand new vehicles on our roads.

“We are indeed, proud to be associated with NADDC as we once again, congratulate the agency on its numerous achievements in line with the progressive vision of Mr. President.”

In his response, the Director-General of the agency, Jalal thanked Hon Okoko and his team for their visit and promised to carry the association along in all its programs and activities.

He also used the occasion to brief Nigerians on the progress made by the agency which includes public enlightenment on road worthiness, ensuring that vehicles meet safety standards as well as promoting the usage of only brand new vehicles by Nigerians among others.
