Jamie Vardy has been named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association.
FWA chairman, Andy Dunn, announced the award on Sky Sports News on Monday morning.
The Leicester City striker, topped the poll after a sensational season with the Foxes, which sees them one point away from winning the Premier League title.
Vardy has netted 22 times in the league and broke former Manchester United striker’s, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record, by scoring in 11 consecutive league matches.
Other players who were in the running for the prize include Leicester team mate N’Golo Kante and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
