Mrs Mairo Sani, the Leader of Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), has advised girls not to commit immorality as the world celebrates valentine’s day. Hide quoted text Sani, who gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos, said it was unfortunate that valentine had been abused.

She said that it was disturbing that valentine had been made a day to commit immorality by boyfriends and girlfriends.

According to her, it is against all religions to indulge in such acts before marriage.

“Valentine is not the time for youths to indulge in sexual immoral acts.

“ I advice girls to tell any man interested in them to seek for their hands in marriage instead of indulging in immoral acts.

“Moreover, you expose yourself to HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, when you indulge in such acts, your self-worth is also dampened,’’ she said.

Sani, however, said valentine should be a period of reflecting on the thread that binds the country together and work toward enhancing unity and love for one another.

She said the security personnel fighting Boko Haram should be shown love through prayers and caring for their families.

The official said the operatives had deprived themselves of the comfort of their homes to fight for the peace of the country, which she said, was the greatest sacrifice of all.

She congratulated Christians on the beginning of the lent season and urged them to pray for the protection, unity and progress of the country.

Sani, therefore, urged Nigerians to embrace love for one another, noting that if the fear of God was instilled in individuals irrespective of their religions, they would love one another.

“If they love one another, there will be less crime and more of brotherly love and development in the country,’’ she said.
