Roger Federer is through to the US Open semi-finals, after he beat France’s Richard Gasquet 6-3 6-3 6-1 on Wednesday.
The Swiss dominated his opponent from start to finish at Flushing Meadows and will now face his country man, Stan Wawrinka.
Wawrink, who is the reigning French Open champion, brushed past South Africa’s Kevin Anderson 6-4 6-4 6-0 to progress into the last four.
Federer is aiming to win his sixth US Open title.
‘Since a few years now, or many years, I have tried to look at the big picture to hopefully still be playing at a high level at this age,” he said.
“I have been able to take the ball earlier, and I think I’m volleying better than I have the last 10 years”, he added.
