US Government to partner with Nigeria Police Force

The United States government has concluded plans to partner with the Nigeria Police Force in the area of training, the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle has disclosed.

The Ambassador made the disclosure yesterday when he visited the Force Headquarters to congratulate the force on the role played by its officers and men in ensuring hitch-free polls during the last general elections.

According to a statement released by the Force spokesman, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Ambassador was full of praises for the police personnel deployed for election duties.

“The Nigeria Police has received an impressive commendation from the Government of the United States of America. This commendation came from His Excellency, Ambassador James Entwistle, the US Ambassador to Nigeria when he paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba.

“The US Ambassador posited that the visit was in recognition of the superlative performance exhibited by officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in the just concluded 2015 general elections. He used the occasion to assure the IGP of US Government resolve to partner more with the Police in the area of training.

Reacting, the IGP said the commendation from the US government would motivate officers and men of the Force to ensure the delivery of world class security services in Nigeria.
