(NAN) The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) on Wednesday congratulated Prof. Attahiru Jega for the successful completion of his tenure as the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Abubakar Sokoto, the National Secretary of UPN in Abuja.

The party stated that Jega’s performance as an electoral Empire would permanently be entrenched in Nigeria’s good book of history for the future generation.

“Jega’s innovation and introduction for the use of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and Card Readers during 2015 General Elections is a great service.

“It is a great service considering the tremendous problem electoral process comes up with in this part of the world.

“The party believes many African countries that are desirous of conducting credible Elections may tap from the experience of Jega’s success story,’’ it said.

The party, however, called on all Nigerians to acknowledge and appreciate the huge successes and achievements of the former INEC chairman for making rigging extremely difficult for electoral fraudsters.

“The party would have loved Jega to continue, but since he chooses to leave when the ovation is loud, we wish him all the best,’’ said the party. (NAN)
