University don, senior government official killed in Borno

Unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect on Tuesday afternoon assassinated a Federal University Senior Staff.

The attack at Ummarari and Galadima wards of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, led to the death of a University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) don, Alhaji Babagana Kolo, barely 24 hours after a director in the Ministry of Land and Survey Mallam Yerima was killed in a similar way.

Sources say two gunmen on a tricycle stormed his residence and shot dead the academician before his wife and children after trailing him to his Ummarari residence around 5pm on Monday.

Spokesman of Borno State Police Command, Gideon Jibrin confirmed that the two attacks adding that no arrests had been made yet, meanwhile investigations are ongoing.
