UNILORIN lecturer accused of intimidating, wooing female student resigns

A lecturer at the Department of English, University of Ilorin, Dr Mohammed Idiagbon, who was accused of wooing an unidentified female student of the institution, has resigned his appointment.

Idiagbon, the Head of Department, HOD, of the English department of the institution resigned his appointment following an investigative panel set up by the institution to look into the matter of his alleged intimidation and wooing of a female student.

The former HOD invited her to his office where he intimidated her and proposed a romantic relationship but unknowingly, the lady recorded the conversation and reported him afterwards.

In view of the students report, the institution set up a panel which invited the alleged randy lecturer but he refused to honour the invitation, instead he tendered his resignation, The Punch reports.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun told the Punch that the university has no room for romantic relationship between lecturers and students.

“The lecturer was queried and removed as the Head of English Department, and invited before a disciplinary panel. The lecturer, however, resigned his appointment with the university and did not appear before the panel,” he said.
