The University of Lagos on Wednesday said it had appointed Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Research.
The institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr Toyin Adebule, said this in a statement made available in Lagos.
He said that Ogundipe of the university’s Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, would succeed Prof. Babajide Alo, the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Research.
He added that the appointment was with effect from April 1, 2016.
Adebule stated that the new DVC’s appointment was in accordance with the provision of the institution’s Act of 1967 as amended in Section 4 and 5 in the University Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1993.
He noted that the appointment was sequel to his election at the university’s Senate meeting held on March 30.
According to him, Ogundipe, who was appointed as professor in 2002, was also the Director of Academic Planning and a member of many scientific organisations.
“He is a life member of International Society of Plant Morphologist, Fellow of Cohort 9 of the Leadership for Environment and Development, and the Linnaean Society, London,’’ he said.
He noted that the new DVC had reviewed many scientific academic journals and external examiner to many universities, including University of Johannesburg. (NAN)
