Commander Ebitu Ukiwe
Formal Chief of General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, rtd, has warned the Federal Government to thread carefully while making plans to dialogue with the dreaded Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday, Ukiwe who was the Chairman of the fourth triennial delegates’ conference of the Rivers council of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, affirmed that the operation of the dreaded Islamic sect had gone beyond the level that it would just accept to dialogue with the Federal government without having any extra motive.
In his argument, no tangible conclusion can be attained from such dialogue as the group is already known for detonating bombs and killing of innocent people.
Reiterating his point, he said, the Federal government should dialogue with the sect as a body, but was completely against the option of an individual discussing on behalf of the government.
He said “I don’t know what they mean by dialogue because the sort of crime they are committing does not give much room for dialogue. I will not advise the federal government on what to do. My attitude does not go with dialoguing. How are you sure he is not coming with a bomb laden tummy”
