UK-based Rapper, Mo-Eazy Comes Back Home

After over a decade of putting in amazing work in the urban music scene in the UK, Nigerian born rapper Mo’ Eazy is heading back home to become an active player in the country’s thriving music recording industry. Music acts coming back home to settle down is nothing new as the likes of D’ Banj and Weird MC have proven. With dozens of returnees already establishing successful music careers, it’s a clear indication that Mo’ Eazy is about to have a veritable impact in the Nigerian music scene.

Born in Kano, Mo’ Eazy (Moses Agboola) has been based in South-London, UK for most of his life. As a kid, his ears were surrounded by the vinyl recordings of greats, such as Fela Kuti, Ebenezer Obey, Bob Marley and Michael Jackson and it was his musical upbringing that cultivated his artistic personality. In his teenage years, he was drawn to the Hip-Hop culture and rap music. At a young age, the hunger to develop his stage craft led him to work in studios and perform before crowds.

He later met Hydro, now known as “Da Truth” and together they became the rap duo known as Renegadez. The group had its own fair share of success when they released their mixtape Marce (France). They later went on to perform at popular night clubs including Papagayo in the tropical island of St. Tropez.

Mo’ Eazy later went solo and has gone on to have a notable career. His debut single “Red Carpet” was a hot track produced by Too Chef in the UK – eventually reaching the number one position on BEN TV’s Top-Ten Music chart. His second single “Make Your Move” carries a positive message and was released mid 2011. It went on to chart on SoundCity and Nigezie and is now receiving generous airplay on Nigerian radio stations.

Mo Eazy also acted in the British indie film ‘Find Her Keep Her’, for which he also did an official Soundtrack.

Mo’ Eazy is more than just a rapper. He is also a song writer, producer and actor. He co-produced and co-wrote the Jubilee Song by 2Face Idibia in honour of Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary. Mo also had the opportunity of working with arguably Africa’s biggest artiste on Chemical Reaction, a remix track off his Invasion album. The 2Face collabos do not stop there as he recently featured on Celebration Remix, featuring Mo’Cheddah, Dola Bilz and Bayoz Muzik.

Another A-list Nigerian artiste Mo’ Eazy has worked with is Darey Art Alade on the internationally successful hit single “The Way You Are”. The two artistes are currently working on other songs to be released in a matter of months.

Mo’ Eazy has been associated with many A-list acts such as Craig David, Nate James, Modenine, Iwan(GH), D-Black (GH), Ray Lavinder (Konvict Music), Salif (Konvict Music), Da Grout (Konvict Music), Duncan Daniels (Dunkish Rock Productions), King David (E.Ladder Ent) Johnson (Kid Royal), Skillz (JJC), Michaela Boakye-Collinson, Esther Adeyemi and many more…

“I’ve been contemplating returning home for sometime now and I think the time is finally here. I’m happy I’m back and I’m here for good. There’s so much happening here: the industry is so vibrant and the music world class,” Mo Eazy says.

Last year he won two awards; Best UK Nigerian artiste award at the Nigeria Arise 2010 Awards and (Best UK Male Act category) at the Black Entertainment, Fashion, Film, Television, and Arts Award (BEFFTA) 2010.

This year he has won one award; Nigerian Promoters Association 2011 for Best International Music Act; he was also a nominee at the recently held Nigerian music video awards.

Being the diverse artiste that he is, he recently released a single titled ‘Love and Hate’ which appeals more to the European audience. It’s a song that lies within the pop rock genre and was written by Mo Eazy himself.

Mo’ Eazy’s mantra is “you need to work hard to get what you want, and your hard work pays off after time; just be patient”. With his talent and work ethic it’s just a matter of time and patience before he conquers the Nigerian scene just like he did in UK. Mo’ Eazy’s current single Make Your Move is starting to make significant entry into Nigerian radio.
