The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has approved the appointment of the immediate-past Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr Etekamba Umoren, as the Secretary to State Government, SSG.
The approval is contained in a statement issued in Uyo on Monday and signed by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant, Media and Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh.
Approval for Udoh’s appointment as the governor’s spokesperson was also conveyed in the statement.
Umoren, a retired Permanent Secretary in the state, is a graduate of the University of Benin and a Knight of the Methodist Church, while Udoh holds a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, aside his first degree in Politics and Journalism.
The new spokesperson has put in over 28 years in journalism, serving as a columnist in Sunday Concord and ThisDay Newspapers, as well as an Editor of Hints Magazine.
According to the statement, Governor Emmanuel also approved the appointment of the Auditor-General for Local Governments, Mr Bassey Umoh, as the new Permanent Secretary, Governor’s Office, Mr Edmond Uffang as Protocol Chief, Pastor Daniel Akwatang as Special Assistant on Religious Affairs and Mr Aniekpeno Mkpanang as Permanent Secretary, Special Services Department.
The statement also said the governor, a former top banker, now chairs the state’s Finance and General Purposes Committee.
