UCTH Doctor kidnapped in Cross River

A Medical Doctor attached to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Dr. Inyama Marcus, has been kidnapped.

Dr. Marcus is an Associate Professor of Haematology is from Akwa Ibom State and was said to have been kidnapped on Thursday at about 7 pm on his way back from Church.

DAILY POST findings revealed that Dr. Marcus Inyama is a Consultant Haematologist at the University.

Confirming the kidnap, the Chairman and Secretary of Nigerian Medical Association, Cross River State branch, Dr Agam Ayuk and Dr Ezoke Epoke respectively regretted the kidnap.

The association in a press statement made available to newsmen on Friday said “The unfortunate incidence took place on Thursday by 7 pm while driving back home from his Church meeting with his family at Ikot Effio in Akpabuyo local government area of the State”

Based on the kidnap, the association has called out members on a total industrial action, “The Nigerian Medical Association will henceforth withdraw all medical services without any notice anytime a Doctor or dependence(s) are taken captive in future, yet the perpetrators have struck again.

“In view of the continued incarceration of Dr Inyama Marcus since Thursday 18 July, the Association’s resolution of 8th January 2018, Congress resolved as follows, NMA-CRS has proceeded on a total and indefinite withdrawal of medical services in both the Private, Public and Institutional hospitals in the State”

When DAILY POST called the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo, her phone was not going through.
