The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has apprehended two suspected human traffickers ( names withheld) and rescued three of their victims in Katsina State.
The NIS Comptroller in the State, Mr Ajisafe Olusola, disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday in Katsina, NAN reports.
Olusola stated that one of the suspects was found with a passport and resident permit of Libya.
“Investigations revealed that he had dwelled in Libya until recently when they were forcefully brought to Nigeria by the Federal Government.
“The suspects intended to smuggle their victims out of the country to Libya en route Niger Republic.
“It may interest you to know that one of the traffickers claimed to be the husband of his victim.
“The duo was brought to Nigeria from Libya in 2018; they are unrepentant human traffickers because no sooner than they returned to Nigeria, that they constituted themselves to very powerful recruitment agents.
”The suspects usually deceive young Nigerians with good job offers in Libya or opportunity to further their education in Europe.
He also added that the suspects would be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and necessary actions.
