Two security guards in Abuja docked over alleged negligence of duty

The police on Friday arraigned two security guards, Innocent Haruna and Musa Abdul in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court for alleged negligence of duty.

Innocent Haruna 22, and Musa Abdul, 25, both staff of Bietal Security Ltd, Abuja were alleged to have paved way for robbers to steal in the premises they were attached.

The prosecutor, Cpl Monday Akor informed the court that on Sept. 30, one Mr Okoko Alhassan of Woodaffair NIGERIA Ltd, Wuse 2, reported the matter at Maitama Police Station.

Akor said that at about 2 p.m. the same date, there was a robbery incidence at the above mentioned office which the two accused were attached to guard.

He informed the court that property valued at about N900,000 was stolen.

The prosecutor told the court that this contravened the provisions of Section 196 of the Penal Code Law.

The two accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against them.

The magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa admitted them to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the matter till Dec 16, for hearing (NAN)
