Two police sergeants were on Monday killed by a driver, Olumiyiwa Emmanuel, as he tried to escape arrest by the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), along Osogbo-Ilesha road.

An eye witness revealed that the driver was a popular internet fraudster in the state.

The source explained that officials of the FRSC had given him a hot chase after accusing him of reckless driving, which made him to lose control and ran over the police officers.

The Divisional Police Officer where the officers were attached, Mr Idowu Adedeji, said “the officers, sergeant Hayatu and sergeant Moshood Adesanmi who were attached to the highway patrol team were not fortunate like the men of Federal Road Safety Corps and Vehicle Inspection officers who narrowly escaped the accident.

“Hayatu and Adesanmi were on their official duty as part of the highway patrol team before they were hit by a driver who was on high speed to evade the arrest of the FRSC officers”, he said.

DAILY POST gathered that the driver has since been apprehended by the police, and is presently being interrogated for possible prosecution.
