Two persons killed as tanker crushes taxi in Kwara

Two persons were killed in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, when a water tanker crashed into a taxi around NNPC Mega Station at Asa-Dam area of the State.

The driver of the taxi alongside a passenger identified as Alhaji Saka, who sat in front, died in the crash while three other passengers at the back seat sustained various degrees of injury.

The passengers injured are Alhaji Lamidi, Mrs. Abimbola Jimoh and her son, Oloruntoyin.

It was gathered that the victims of the accident were on their way back home from a funeral prayer of one Alhaji Atunde in the area.

According to an eyewitness, the tanker driver, who was coming from an adjoining road that linked the highway experienced a brake failure, as a result, crashed into the cab.

The tanker driver was said to have fled the accident scene for fear of his life, however victims of the accident were taken to Garin Alimi Hospital while the tanker has been removed by policemen from Adewole Police Division.
