An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, sentenced two men Ayodeji Akinhanmi,34 and Arowolo Hammed, 34, to three years imprisonment each, for stealing valuables worth N96, 500.
The Magistrate, Mr Olakunleyin Oke said that with the evidence before the court, the prosecution proved its case beyond doubt.
Oke held that the defendants were guilty of the two-count charge of break-in and stealing.
He, therefore, sentenced the defendants to three years imprisonment each without an option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. OluBalogun Lawrence, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 31 at about 2:30 a.m. at Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta.
Lawrence alleged that the defendants burgled two shops and stole valuable items.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants entered into MM4 Hair Clinic Shop and stole four clippers, standing fan and a wristwatch.
He said the property belonged to Mr Aderowoye Mubasiru.
Lawrence said the duo also broke into another shop belonging to Mrs Fagbenro Saidat and stole one gas cylinder valued at N10,000, rice and a blender, all worth N24,000.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 319, 431(1)(2), 383, and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
