The rainy season, to many is a period of blessing, but reverse was the case in Zuba area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as the heavy down pour the area experienced on Saturday claimed the lives of two people and left one injured.
The two persons who lost their lives in the rainstorm were said to be taking shelter in a shop on which a tree that was uprooted by the storm crashed.
One of the deceased, Haruna Abdullahi, a revenue collector at a roadside park in Zuba, was said to have been heading home from a mosque opposite the emir’s palace in Zuba, after the night prayer when the storm started which eventually led to his death.

According to a relative of the deceased, Sarkin Padan Zuba, Alhaji Muhammad Murtala, the deceased was killed in a shop where he was taking refuge from the rain. Murtala further noted that the storm uprooted a tree and it fell on the building, leading to the instant death of Abdullahi and Hadiza Muhammad, a recharge card seller behind the shop.
Murtala also disclosed that the little daughter of the shop owner sustained minor injury on her head while her mother was not affected.
