The police in Lagos state have recovered the vehicle driven by a hit and run driver who rammed into three guards at a filling station in Lagos, crushing two to death.
The deceased, 38-year-old Jeremiah Samuel and Tope Oni, 35, and their unidentified colleague who sustained high degrees of injury, were reportedly on duty on Saturday at about 1.45am, when a blue Volkswagen bus, with number plate, MUS 497 XG, crashed into the HS Petroleum, in the Ago-Okuta area of state and hit them.
The driver was reported to have fled the scene, while policemen from the Okota division recovered the vehicle.
Confirming the incident to newsmen on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmos, said the driver of the vehicle was on top speed.
“It was a fatal motor accident which occurred at about 1.45am in front of the HS Petroleum in Ago-Okota.
“A Volkswagen bus, which was travelling on top speed towards FESTAC Town, ran into three young men, who were guards of the filling station.
“The driver ran away. The three men were rushed to the Isolo General Hospital.
“While two of them were confirmed dead at the hospital, the third victim sustained serious injuries.
“The remains of the victims have been deposited in a morgue,” the PPRO said.
