There was tension around the Ibusa Junction, in Asaba, Delta State when a man in a blue BMW car with registration no. FT394LSR on Wednesday night rammed into a brown Toyota Carina (HS251KJA) leaving two persons feared killed while it broke into the perimeter fence of Saint John Bosco’s Catholic Church.

The unfortunate incident, which left the two victims reeling and incapacitated occurred at about 10pm Wednesday. Sympathizers were seen battling to save the lives of the victims.

It was gathered that the owner of the Toyoya Carina, who was in company of his wife were on their way to Okpanam Road when suddenly the car ran out of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly called fuel.

It was learnt that the man parked his car beside the fence of the Catholic Church with his wife inside and ran out to a nearby filling station with a gallon to purchase fuel when suddenly an alleged drunk driver on high speed coming from A Division Police Station rammed into the Toyota Carina that left the two persons seriously injured and unconscious.

But two police officers who did not want their names in the print told DAILY POST, “We are not sure the two persons will survive, they were critically injured and could not speak while they were being rushed to the hospital, it is rather unfortunate.”

”The woman inside the Toyota who was at the front sit waiting for her husband was injured with another passer-by and were rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for medical attention. ”

When DAILY POST arrived at the scene on Thursday, it was observed that the brunet of the BMW was badly destroyed with pieces of headlamps while the boot of the Toyota Carina was also destroyed with broken glasses on the road close to the traffic light.

The injured woman, who is currently being treated at the Federal Medical Center, FMC, Asaba, spoke to DAILY POST on the grounds of anonymity, saying, “My husband and I were on our way to Okpanam when our fuel got finished and we decided to park the vehicle.

“My husband retrieved a gallon from our boot to buy fuel while I was surfing the internet with my phone, and before I knew it, because everything is still like a dream to me, I heard people screaming before I could turn back to gaze at them, in fact; the rest is history. I have nothing else to say but to thank God because if not God, I would have been dead”.

Eye witness, Jane Ijeh told DAILY POST, “ The two persons suspected to have died were just coming with legs when the car crashed into them, and they were severely injured and could not talk as they were being taking to a private hospital”.
