Two die, scores injured in fatal auto crash in Bauchi


A fatal auto crash along Bauchi-Ningi Road, in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, on Tuesday, reportedly left two persons dead with several others injured.

The accident occurred when the driver of a Peugeot 806, conveying 13 passengers, reportedly lost control and somersaulted.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the accident to newsmen in a statement on Wednesday, said some of the victims died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

He said, “The following victims: Rayyanu Idris, (male) 20, of Babaldu, and Auwal Isah, (male) 45, of Jimbin village, Ganjuwa, were certified dead while receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ningi.

“The persons who sustained minor injuries are Ibrahim Badamasi, (Male) a five-year -old from Kano; Fatima Badamasi, (female) a two-year-old from Kano; Dauda Bilya, (male) a three-year-old from Kano; and Ummi Salma, (Female)a six-year-old from Kano State.

“On April 5, 2016 (Tuesday), at about 16:00hrs (4:00pm), there was a fatal motor accident at Yelwa bridge of Karia ward, along Bauchi -Ningi Road, in Ganjuwa LGA of Bauchi State.

“The accident occurred when a Peugeot 806 with registration No. XB 953 DUT, conveying 13 passengers and driven by one Aliyu Adamu, (male), 30, of Babaldu town in Birnin Kudu LGA of Jigawa State, lost control and skidded off the road.

“As a result, the vehicle somersaulted and hit a tree.

“Police patrol team attached to Ganjuwa Division visited the scene and rushed the victims who sustained varying degrees of injuries to the hospital for medical attention,” Mohammed stated.
