A fatal accident involving a trailer and a commercial bus popular referred to as Danfo, in Lagos state reportedly left two persons dead with no fewer than ten persons critically injured.
The accident happened on Friday at about 5pm along Jakande Estate of Festac-Mile 2 area of the state.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen the driver of the trailer lost control of the break and in his attempt to stop the moving trailer, he ran into the Danfo from which some passengers were alighting.
The yet-to-be identified trailer driver who attempted to flee the scene, was apprehended by youths close by. They meted out severe beating on him before officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, got to the scene.
Spokesman of the agency, Adebayo Kehinde, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday, said the survivors’ injuries were severe.
Kehinde spoke on behalf of the LASEMA General Manager, Mr. Michael Akindele, saying the crashed vehicles had been evacuated from the scene and that the dead had been deposited in a morgue until their relatives come for identification.
