Two condemned to nine-year jail term for abducting SSG’s son

Two persons have been convicted to nine years in prison by Justice Cletus Emifoniye of a Delta State High Court for kidnapping the son of Mackson Macaulay, the Secretary to the Delta State Government.

The two convicts, Sunday Ughebo,26, and Odioko Omovigho ,28, were charged on a two count charge of conspiracy to kidnap and kidnapping.

While delivering his ruling, Emifonye said, both charges attracted four and five years jail term.

Emifonye said the accused will serve their sentence from the day they were apprehended.

The state prosecutor, while testifying before the court said the victim on June 18, 2012 while visiting his uncle who resides at Owhelogbo community, Isoko North was abducted by a three man gang.

The Prosecutor affirmed that the victim was released the next day unhurt without paying the ransom.

The prosecutor also told the Court that the suspects shot severally into the air, attracting the attention of the security details drafted to the SSG’s house at Owhelogbo.

He further stated that the security detail chased the suspects to Abe community, Ndokwa West local government area where they were rounded up.
