Two Civil servants nabbed for defrauding job seekers

Two Civil Servants were yesterday paraded by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for allegedly defrauding job seekers to the tune of N6 million, through an online medium.

While Parading the suspects in the Federal Capital Territory, the NSCDC Commandant, Alhaji Aminu Kofar- Soro, said the suspects who work with the Ministry of Justice, Gwagwalada Area Court, were nabbed with fake NSCDC letter headed appointment, acceptance letters and Documentation forms, adding that collection was between 200,000, 100,000, and 80, 000 respectively from unsuspecting members of the public.

Kofar-Soro noted that the suspects, Ibrahim Usman, 35, and his accomplice 33-year-old Shuaibu Yunusa, were rounded up after one of their victims visited the documentation centre of the Corps in Gwagwalada .

The NSCDC Commander stressed that the corps is not recruiting at the moment. He further stated that they will place adverts in the media and not on personal websites.

He said, “We have arrested two suspects as part of our ongoing clampdown on job racketeers, with fake NSCDC appointment letters and documentation process.

We arrested them from Gwagwalada and one of them is a civil servant with the Gwagwalada Sharia court.’’.

“We recovered about 18 fake appointment letters from him and so much has been paid into another account which we are still investigating to know who exactly is receiving the money,“he said.

He warned members of the public to desist from patronising the fraudsters.

“It is very unfortunate and I want to appeal to members of the public to desist from patronising these fraudsters or paying money through any website.

“I want to reiterate here that the NSCDC is not recruiting for now and when we are about to recruit it will be announced by the Board through the print and broadcast media.”

Kofar-Soro also stated that both men will be arraigned in court next week.
