The Lagos state Police Command has said it has commenced investigation into the death of a heavily pregnant woman and two brothers were killed in the Surulere axis of Lagos state. The command said it was currently investigating the cult clashes that led to the death of the three.
DailyPost gathered that the victims were killed in a fight that erupted on Thursday night, spilling over to Friday morning.
The two cult groups, later identified as Eiye and Aiye fraternities, engaged in a supremacy clash at the Shitta area of Surulere, Lagos.
In a swift response to the crisis, the state Police Command immediately sent teams of Policemen from Bode Thomas Police Station and more men from Area C Command to forestall further clashes.
Eyewitnesses accounts claimed that the two brothers might have been the targets of the fight, but the pregnant woman, who also lost her life in the fight, was said to be a victim of circumstance, as she was killed by a stray bullet from one of the groups.
DailyPost also gathered that one of the brothers, identified as Mufu, and his elder brother were drinking at a bar close to Shitta Primary School near Ogunmola street when some armed youth, believed to be cult members, stormed the scene and opened fire on them.
Mufu and his elder brother died on the spot, while the pregnant woman, who was close by, during the time of the incident, died on the way to the hospital.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Ngozi Braide said two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
