President Donald Trump has fired the acting US Attorney General, Sally Yates.

Yates was relieved of her job on Monday night for opposing Trump’s controversial travel ban.

This comes amid growing protests against the restrictions from world, business leaders and demonstrators.

A statement by the White House said Yates had “betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States.”

Meanwhile, Former US President, Barack Obama, has also kicked againt the travel ban order by Trump.

Obama said he disagreed with discrimination against people based on their religion.

Kevin Lewis, a spokesman for Obama, said the former president “fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion.”

“Citizens exercising their Constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake,” Lewis said.

He said Obama was “heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country.”

Meanwhile, Nigerians may lose American entry visas as Trump’s Executive Order on immigration takes effect.
