Trump’s solidarity rally: Senate to probe killing of IPOB members

The Senate has resolved to investigate the alleged killing of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, by security agents during the group’s solidarity rally in honour of the United States, US, President, Donald Trump.

Recall that security agents had last week Friday allegedly killed some IPOB members during the group’s solidarity rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

However, the senate during Tuesday’s plenary condemned the alleged killing and ordered its Committee on Police and National Security to institute a full scale investigation into the killings.

The resolution was taken following a motion by Senator representing Abia North, Mao Ohuabunwa on the gruesome murder of the pro-Biafra agitators.

Citing Order 43 of the senate standing rule bordering on personal explanation, the lawmaker frowned at the alleged incessant killing of members of the group.

“On Thursday 11 people were killed and 26 injured for no just cause, Mr. President , we are in a democracy and people must differ in opinion, that is the beauty of democracy, the killings is one to many, it happened in Onitsha, Aba and now Port Harcourt, it behooves on us to call the security operative to order,” Ohuabunwa said.
