Trump’s inauguration : Police warns IPOB members

The Rivers State Police Command has warned groups and individuals against converging to carry out a procession or rally in any part of the state.

The Command issued the stern warning on the backdrop of a planned procession by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, with regards to the inauguration of US President-elect, Donald Trump, today, Friday.

Trump is billed to be inaugurated as the 45th President of United States, taking over from Barrack Obama.

However, spokesman of the Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni told journalists in Port Harcourt that the Police were aware of the action of the IPOB members.

DSP Omoni said patrol vans had been deployed to strategic locations in the state to stop the planned action.

He said the Command would not tolerate the breach of public peace after putting so much effort in ensuring that Rivers State was rid of troublemakers.

“Our ears have been on the ground and we are abreast with the plans of this IPOB people. It is all over social media.

“We are appealing to them not to group themselves anywhere in Rivers state. No group has the permission to hold a demonstration or procession until it is approved by the police.

“Our men have been stationed in strategic places and our patrol vans will be on major roads to clampdown on those that are caught fomenting trouble in this state.

“We call on parents and guardians to appeal to their wards not to allow themselves to be used to cause public nuisance,” he said.
