A delegation of United States of American diplomats fled an event in the Palestinian city of Bethlehem on Tuesday.
This is as angry protesters, who were against President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, threw tomatoes at the delegation’s car as they fled.
Aljezera quoted the Head of the Bethlehem Chamber, Samir Hazboun, as saying that they had been holding a training session for local business people about digital commerce with an American expert and a delegation from the US consulate in Jerusalem.
American delegation hurriedly packed up their items and left, with the protesters throwing stones at them.
A US State Department spokesperson said, “the United States opposes the use of violence and intimidation to express political views.
“This non-political programme was one part of long-term US engagement to create economic opportunities for Palestinians.”
