Trump reveals why he called Putin on fourth term victory

President Donald Trump of the United States, has explained why he called his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to congratulate him on his re-election.

Trump argued that former US president, Barack Obama, also did the same thing and insisted that getting along with Russia was not a bad thing.

“I called President Putin of Russia to congratulate him on his election victory (in past, Obama called him also). The Fake News Media is crazed because they wanted me to excoriate him. They are wrong! Getting along with Russia (and others) is a good thing, not a bad thing,” he tweeted on Wednesday.

Putin won a landslide re-election victory on Sunday, extending his rule over the world’s largest country for another six years.

Officials said the duo spoke by phone on Tuesday, days after the Russian leader secured a fourth term in the Kremlin.

The White House had earlier indicated that no call with Putin was planned and the Russian leader played down talk of a rift.
