Troost-Ekong reveals why he snubbed Manchester City, Liverpool

Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, has revealed he snubbed a move to Manchester City and Liverpool few years ago, in favour of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Troost-Ekong started his career with Fulham, before moving to Spurs where he spent three years but failed to make the grade.

Manchester City and Liverpool were heavily interested in the Nigeria international, but the then 16-year-old decided ‎to move to North London.

“What was available at Tottenham was very vital for me and my family, and that was the deciding factor for me, so I chose to play for Spurs at that time. In my private life, they managed somethings for me. I also like the club in London, it felt very good,” he told Voetbalzone.nl.

“If you are fifteen or sixteen years old then go for what makes you feel good and where you ‎think you can get a chance. That did not work for me at Spurs, but I don’t have any regret of my time in England.”
