Troops retake more towns in Borno as Army reassures Nigerians of security

In continuation with the push to capture Sambisa forest, after the capture of Gwoza and Alagarno forest, troops of 3 and 7 Divisions of the Nigerian Army supported by the Nigerian Air Force, yesterday recaptured Bita, Izge, Yamteke and Uba towns in Askira Uba and Damboa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

During the encounter, one soldier paid was killed while 10 others sustained various degrees of injury.

Several Boko Haram terrorists were equally killed and recoveries made.

Meanwhile, as the 2015 Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections approaches, the Nigerian Army enjoins all Nigerians to remain law abiding and continue to discharge their civic obligations of voting for the candidates of their choice on Saturday, 11 April 2015, without any fear.

The Nigerian Army reassures the general public that their security is guaranteed within the law, as it is working in conjunction with other security agencies to ensure safety of lives and properties of all Nigerians before, during and after election.

To this end, the Nigerian Army has directed all formations and units to remain vigilant and act within the law to prevent any attempt to endanger the lives of Nigerians wherever they may reside.

Similarly, all Nigerian Army personnel on election duties are advised to discharge their duties professionally and within the confines of the Code of Conduct for military personnel on election duties.

The Nigerian Army added that it will continue to remain loyal to constituted civil authority and protection of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
