Troops of 33 Artillery Brigade, in the ongoing Operation Lafiya Dole on Saturday, encountered members of militia massing up at Burra Junction in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Four members of the group were killed in the encounter.
It was gathered that the militia men upon sighting troops opened fire on them and the troops reacted immediately by engaging the militia men.
“At the end of the encounter, four militias were killed,” Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, Director Army Public Relations, said in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Sunday.
Chukwu added that the troops recovered five Dane guns, 38 motorcycles and nine bicycles.
“Nine Militia men were also arrested while a soldier who sustained gun shot wounds is stable, having been evacuated to the hospital and receiving treatment. Troops are closely in pursuit of the fleeing militias with the view of apprehending more of them,” the statement read in part.
