Troops of eight Task Force Division Nigerian Army on Thursday intercepted a group of Boko Haram terrorists suspected to be on a mission to get logistics supplies in surrounding villages along Monguno-Brimari road, Borno State,
It was gathered that the extremists, on sighting the military patrol, engaged them in a fire exchange that lasted for about fifteen minutes before they were overpowered by the superior fire power of the patrol. Two insurgents were neutralized during the gun battle.
A statement by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations said the troops recovered weapons, including 1 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 1 AK-47 rifle and 3 magazines from the terrorists.
He added that also recovered from the insurgents were two motorcycles, various drugs, wrappers and clothes.
Just few days ago, Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed at a checkpoint in Gubio, Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, foiled a suicide attack on Gubio town by 8 Boko Haram terrorists.
