Ayuba Bashiru, a 22-year-old tricyclist, who allegedly conspired to abduct and rape a 13- year-old girl, was on Thursday remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Mr P. E. Nwaka, the Chief Magistrate ordered that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for advice.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case until July 16.
Bashiru, who resides at No. 42, Owoduni St., Ajegunle in Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, abduction and rape.
Insp. Christopher John, the Prosecutor told the court that Bashiru commited the offence with others that are currently at large on May 31 and June 2, at his residence.
He said the abducted girl was sent on an errand by her mother when he (Bashiru) and his accomplice abducted the girl.
According to John, the accused held the girl hostage for two days in his house and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
“Bashiru and his gang also jointly kept the girl in his house and gang raped her,’’ he said.
The offences contravene Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
