The Civil Liberties Organization has raised the alarm over alleged plans by the Federal Government to process the release of the former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local government area, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree.

South-South Chairman of the CLO, Carl Chinedu at a media briefing in Port Harcourt said the Organization has it on good authority that there are moves to grant bail to Flag-Amchree.

Carl, particularly picked-holes in the new Appeal panel set-up to hear the bail application of the accused chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The CLO also questioned the action of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachiwa in constituting a new Appeal to sit on Ojukaye’s matter. The Civil Liberties Organization however resolved that the Appeal Panel be dissolved with immediate effect.

Zonal Chairman of CLO, Carl Chinedu said it will not fail to explore the necessary options to ensure that Ojukaye is properly prosecuted within the ambits of the Law.

“The three Judges are mysteriously part of the Judges that nullified the election of the Rivers state Legislative seats during the tribunal where they co-manufactured conflicting judgments which almost destroyed our judiciary.

“We want to know why the applicant (Ojukaye) deserves such preferential treatment as to warrant special set of judges to hear his appeal on bail application and murder trial. This is based on grounds that there are also hundreds of persons in the Port Harcourt prisons facing the same charges.

“The so-called Court of Appeal panel as constituted by the Honourable Justice Bulkachwa to at all cost mysteriously grant bail to the accused person should be dissolved.

“We want Justice Bulkachwa to be immediately suspended from office by the NJC. We pass a vote of no confidence on her.

“What we want as an organization is for the former Appeal panel to be reinstated to sit on Ojukaye’s matter.

Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is facing a two count charge of conspiracy and murder.

He was denied bail by Justice Margareta Opara of the High Court in Port Harcourt.
