The House of Representatives member representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung, has called on the Federal Government to take proactive measures against the re-occurrence of earth tremors in the country with particular reference to Kwoi in Jaba local government area of Kaduna state.
The lawmaker sympathized with governor El-Rufai, the paramount ruler of Jaba, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude and the entire people of Jaba local government area over the series of earth tremors witnessed in their communities.
He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials to individuals whose houses were adversely affected as a result of the incident and were compelled to relocate.
In a statement he personally signed, he added that government agencies such as the National Geological Agency should as a matter of urgency commence in-depth technical studies to ascertain the cause and educate citizens about earth tremors in order to save Nigerians from such traumatic experience.
The lawmaker appealed for calm, and urged residents not to panic but await the guidance of relevant federal and state government agencies on the way forward.
He appreciated the leadership of the state governor and Jaba local government for the prompt action taken towards ascertaining the real problem in order to find a possible solution.
