Sporting Lisbon have decided that the club would only sell Manchester United target, Bruno Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur if Mauricio Pochettino’s side meet their £64million valuation for the player.
DAILY POST had reported that Manchester United were said to be on the verge of completing a stunning £56million deal for Sporting Lisbon’s top midfielder, Bruno Fernandes.
This was disclosed by football pundit, Dharmesh Sheth, who works for Sky Sports.
“We are told Tottenham had a representative in Lisbon just this afternoon to discuss the potential signing of a man we’ve been talking about for much of the summer, Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes,” Sheth said on the Transfer Show on Thursday.
“One source in Portugal told me that Tottenham gave Sporting an idea of what they were prepared to pay.
“It fell short of Sporting’s £64million valuation.
“The noise getting closer to home is not to get too excited about Tottenham’s chances of signing Bruno Fernandes.
“You’ll remember Manchester United are keen on Bruno Fernandes but at the moment their priorities seem to lie elsewhere, potentially a centre-back and a right-sided player.
“Reading between the lines, you’d have to say Sporting Lisbon are keen to sell Bruno Fernandes, they probably see this as the optimum time to get maximum value for a player who is at a good age at 24 and had the season of his life.
“It should be said that the same source does not expect Tottenham to go back in for him.”
“If Tottenham do not intend to improve their offer, that leaves the door open for United to close a deal if they’re willing to pay the Primeira Liga club’s valuation.”
