Transfer: Sarri speaks on Morata leaving Chelsea

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has sent a clear message to striker, Alvaro Morata amid his interest in Gonzalo Higuain.

Sarri told the Spain international he will not stand in his way if he wants to leave the club this month but insists he’ll need a replacement.

Morata endured a difficult 18 months at Stamford Bridge and is behind both Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard in the pecking order under Sarri.

The Italian is keen on signing AC Milan striker, Gonzalo Higuain and the Argentine’s agent is said to be in London this week to negotiate a deal.

Shifting Morata may be difficult given his wages but Sarri has indicated he is happy for him to go provided the club sign a replacement.

“‘Of course if Morata goes to another club we will need a replacement,” Metro UK quoted Sarri as saying ahead of Saturday’s clash against Newcastle.

“At the moment Morata is here so I think he has to think only to play.

“In this moment in Europe there are 300 players involved in the market, they only need to think about the next match or it will be impossible to play.”
