Burnley are ready to make Chelsea starlet, Fikayo Tomori, the most expensive Nigerian defender in history, the Daily Star reports.

It is believed that the Turf Moor outfit are hoping to clinch a £15m deal for Tomori, who is also eligible to represent the senior national teams of Canada and England.

If Chelsea agree a deal with the Clarets, it will make Tomori the costliest defender eligible to represent the Super Eagles.

The record is held by Taribo West, who moved from Auxerre to Inter Milan for €12million in 1997.

Tomori was loaned out to Derby County last season and was named the club’s Player of the Year.

He spent the previous season at Hull City.

New Blues boss, Frank Lampard, has included Tomori in the pre-season squad for games against Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic FC this week.
