Alisson Becker chose a move to Liverpool over Real Madrid, it has been revealed.
The Brazil No.1 goalkeeper completed his £67million move to the Premier League club from Roma last week.
Globo Esporte reports that Liverpool had been working on a deal for Alisson for the last six months.
He was left impressed with manager Jurgen Klopp and the club’s plans for the academy.
Real Madrid were keen to rival the Reds for Alisson’s signature, but were offering only £35million.
Roma were convinced that the LaLiga giants would return to the negotiating table, but it was Chelsea who emerged as Liverpool’s only serious rivals, but they too fell short of the asking price.
Real were also unable to convince Alisson that he would replace Keylor Navas as their No.1, something he was guaranteed at Liverpool
The goalkeeper was also uncertain about a move to Spain with the futures of then manager Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo unsolved.
